Girls night out! After a tough gym workout, my roommate and I treated ourselves to a nice dinner at The Cottage Kitchen + Bar in Chestnut Hill.
The Cottage in Chestnut Hill
Chestnut Hill Mall caters to the upper class homes in the surrounding area. The shops are fun to go window-shopping, but it’s not really my first choice when going on a shopping spree. The restaurants are upper class but affordable.
A great cocktail: White Peach Sangria with white wine, peach brandy, orange vodka, peach liquor, and fresh peaches. Very delicious and smelled sweet, but a bit too hard for me.
To me, when a restaurant puts extra effort into their complimentary bread, it means a lot. The bread at The Cottage was fresh out of the oven and fluffy, with soft butter to go with it.
Soup of the day: Minestrone. This one was hearty and perfect as an appetizer.
Chicken Tortilla Soup with Cheese – Hearty, warm, delicious!
Sweet Potato Crusted Cod with garlicky rapini, crispy fingerling potatoes, lemon chili aioli, and mango. Yum!
I ordered the Lobster Sandwich, with crispy prosciutto, arugula, lemon mayonnaise, all on grilled challah toast. It was unbelievable – the thick challah bread and generous portions of lobster and fresh arugula.
After all the bread and hearty soup, I wished I had more room to finish the entire plate. I took home half the sandwich and had the rest for brunch the following morning. Still delicious the next day!
All in all, I loved dining at The Cottage. The food was great, the ambiance was classy and beachy, and the waiter was helpful.
