There’s an inherent energy about New York City that it’s famous for. It makes you want to get up and do a million things all day and stay up all night.
I can’t agree enough with the above NYC quote – every time I visit, it’s the funnest whirlwind of restaurants, friends, shops, trains and tons of walking. I suddenly want to see every inch of the buzzing city, from the Met Museum to the parks, comedy shows, arcade bars and even some of the touristy spots (begrudgingly)!
As a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city of dreams, if you enjoy elegance and decadence, it honestly doesn’t get much better than The Pierre New York! Read on to learn about this magnificent hotel and our stay there.
The Pierre New York: A Taj Hotel
History of The Pierre Hotel
The Pierre is a Taj Hotel, which means that it has over a century of refinement under its belt. Style icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Yves Saint Laurent and Elizabeth Taylor have graced its hallways, so clearly I tried to imagine walking in their footsteps through the marble lobby!
The Taj Hotels consist of 15 international venues, from the Maldives, Malaysia, the UK, USA, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Africa and the Middle East. They are known for great service as well as exquisite comfort and detailing from their Indian roots, channeling traditions and rooms practically suitable for the Maharaja.
The Pierre Hotel itself has won countless awards, such as the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Award for four consecutive years, AAA Five Diamond award in the General Hotel category in 2016, and the Condé Nast Traveler – Top 25 Hotels in NYC award.
Its location on 5th Avenue, just across from Central Park East, is one of the best addresses in the city. If you’re visiting New York City, you may as well go all-out and experience the best it has to offer, which is what the Pierre provides!

First of all, this is more than just a pretty room. It houses one of the most comfy beds I’ve ever slept on (seriously if you told me the thread count was a million I would say, “yep that sounds about right!”)!
The room comes with fresh fruit, Perrier and magazines, the window view is of adorable brick houses, and they even ask if you would like a copy of the NY Times sent up to your room (obvs the answer is yes)!

The service was equally incredible, as you would expect. The staff was all smiles, incredibly friendly and helpful at all times, from walking our bags to the front desk the moment we stepped into the lobby, to manning each and every elevator.
I was impressed by the little details of the room, from the grandiose curtains and curtain rod, to the high ceilings and even how comfortable and fluffy the robe and slippers are!

The large windows let in wonderful natural lighting to help you hop out of bed after a late night of comedy shows in the West Village.

Half of me wants to go out and see the big apple, the other half wants to lay in this bed literally all weekend. I am both ends of the spectrum at The Pierre Hotel!

I want to point out how comfortable this chair is. Some hotel rooms skimp out on the room furniture, but The Pierre doesn’t seem to take any shortcuts which is noticed and appreciated! I also love that rug design.
Maybe if I sit here real still, they’ll think I belong in one of the grand rooms and I can stay here forever!
This intricate Rotunda leads to the Perrine restaurant where we had brunch, and includes floor to wall artwork and a grand staircase. Also my heart.
From the grand marble lobby, to the decadent Perrine restaurant for brunch, and a room fit for royalty, our stay at The Pierre New York was nothing short of extraordinary, and unforgettable for all the right reasons. I absolutely recommend every part of our stay here to anyone who enjoys the finer things and wants to stay in the heart of Manhattan – it’s the perfect urban oasis! I can’t wait to see what the the other Taj Hotels have to offer around the globe!
