Most of you know I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. SF is known for it’s amazing food, including it’s incredible selection of Mexican restaurants. Now being located so much further northeast, it’s harder to find a good Mexican venue in Boston. So when I heard about a great Mexican restaurant in The Mall at Chestnut Hill, I was beyond excited to try it!
The only downside to a fantastic, romantically-lit dinner is that taking quality pictures can be tough! For all your sakes, Besito was kind enough to offer high-res images of each plate we ordered.
First of all, it must be said that Besito is Yelp-famous for it’s guacamole – and for good reason. The guac comes in these adorable bowls that are shaped like some sort of adorable animal, and they come right to your table and make it in front of you! I love how they put big chunks of tomato in there too. It’s fresh, packed with flavors, and totally delish.
Next, we had the Ceviche Del Dia (or ceviche of the day), which is raw fish, prepared fresh each day, with fried plantains and corn tortilla chips for scooping! I always love the extreme freshness of ceviche, and the addition of the crispy fried plantains (a smaller, sweeter cousin of the banana), was a perfect match.
I’ll just admit it: I’m an Enchilada addict. Whenever I go out to a Mexican meal, if enchiladas are on the menu I’m already ordering them. I loved that Besito had multiple options of enchiladas to choose from: Carnitas, Mixtas, and my favorite Suizas.
The Enchiladas Suizas are a Swiss style, made with shredded chicken, tomatillo cream sauce, queso Chihuahua, onions, and cilantro. It was so impossibly flavorful without being too spicy for me, which is the perfect combo!
Above is the Vegetable Iron Skillet Taco plate, which is as scrumptious as it looks and sounds. It comes out like a mini buffet where you get to create your own tacos from organic baby spinach; crimini and button mushrooms, goat cheese, avocado salsa verde, chile de arbol salsa, and avocado. Yum!
Full disclosure: This is not what we ordered for dessert. We ordered what I imagine to be an equally delicious flan that there was no image for. But I would never want to deprive you all of an amazing dessert picture, so enjoy this bonus shot of Besito’s Pastel de Chocolate!
